Wistia has just won its first Webby Award. The Boston-based web video hosting platform has been a champion of video marketing since 2008, and now they’ve officially been recognized as the people’s voice winner for best branded entertainment video series for their One, Ten, One Hundred original series.

First, if you’ve never heard of The Webby Awards, it’s only the highest honor on the web. Known as the “Oscars of the Internet,” the Webby’s have been around since I was old enough to drive, that’s 1996 for all of you trivia buffs out there.

Award winners in the past include a variety of household names ranging from Google to Facebook, and, of course, Minnesota legend Prince. (Yay Minnesota).

Number 2: What’s a Wistia? Wistia is a video hosting platform that helps businesses and individuals host, promote, and analyze all of their video marketing efforts. Instead of using basic video platforms like YouTube or Vimeo, many entrepreneurs and organizations have been turning to Wistia since 2008 to help them maximize their return on video marketing efforts.

And finally, number 3, why should you care?

This is probably the most important question to ask because it represents a huge opportunity for all marketers.

Wistia's implied value proposition since its founding has been that every company should be able to use video marketing to build its brand.

And now, despite facing competition from brands such as Lenovo, who boasts more than $40B per year in revenue, and Uber, one of Silicon Valley's most aggressive unicorn startups, Wistia has essentially become proof of its own mission.

We wanted to know Wistia's video marketing secrets, so we sat down with Chris Savage, the company's CEO and co-founder, to ask him about video's role in building today's stand-out brands.
